The Ekal Vidyalaya Foundation of USA empowers children in small Indian villages by providing them with access to education and opportunities they might not otherwise have, helping them build brighter futures. Hirabhai was deeply involved with the Chicago chapter throughout his life. He personally visited the schools in India that benefited from his contributions, and got to witness the lifetime impact he made on the children.
The Ekal Vidyalaya operates a village school at a cost of $365 USD a year. Ekal is able to maintain schools at such a low cost because it works with a low overhead and is supported by local villagers who work shoulder to shoulder with Ekal.
